Recently both Cannon Banks and Cheryl Brown celebrated 20 years’ service with Kurrajong.
Cannon is our Supported Living Manager in Wagga Wagga who never imagined when he started out as a casual support worker that he would still be here with the Kurrajong team 20 years later.
“Milestones such as this allow the chance to reflect with gratitude on the people I have worked with and alongside over the years, and the many opportunities afforded to me at Kurrajong” Cannon explained.
Cannon started working with Kurrajong as a fresh 25 year old university student with the world at his feet and found himself immediately called to work with people who needed some assistance and guidance in their lives. As time went on Cannon was fortunate to become a team leader for three group homes and later became Supported Living Manager for adult accommodation in Wagga Wagga. Now in 2022, Cannon manages 15 group homes, with a possible 2 more homes opening soon and approximately 130 awesome staff.
“…I still feel connected to everyone in Supported Living group homes. These are the people who made me the person I am today – so thank you to you all”.
Cheryl is a Support Worker in Lifestyle Choices Wagga Wagga who first started as a volunteer before becoming a Support Worker six months later. Cheryl has seen many changes in the past 20 years, especially how Kurrajong has extensively expanded.
“I have stayed working for Kurrajong because I like the changes and the challenges that come with this”.
“I really enjoy giving people the encouragement and praise while also trying really hard to help people keep their skills and independence. I like to creatively problem solve to work out ways for people to practice their skills and keep them”.
Both Cheryl and Cannon are valued members of our Kurrajong team and we congratulate and thank them both!
