Cathy’s Kurrajong Story
Cathy lives in a Kurrajong Supported group home and receives a unique and tailored day service from the Kurrajong Supported Living team.
65-year-old Cathy Gain came to Kurrajong at the age of 10 years old, where she lived in the Junior Hostel. Cathy now lives in the Red Hill group home and receives a unique and tailored day service from the Supported Living team.
An average day for Cathy usually involves her attending the MB (Meeting Base) room. At the MB room Cathy is supported to participate in activates such as painting, cooking and crafts. She will also have her morning tea and lunch there with other clients that attend. Although sometimes Cathy will go out for lunch, morning tea or go to the shops to purchase some books.
The MB room gives Cathy a place to call her work which is very valuable and important to her. It gives her the opportunities to still catch up with many friends she has made over the years and also gives her a sense of belonging and self-worth in our community.
