Connor started a process in March 2022 to become a teachers aide at Gralee School.
Connor Completed a WWCC then online modules with NSW Department of Education. Connor with the assistance of employment preparation worked to complete the modules over a 6 month period on School Leaver Employment Support days in Griffith. Connor passed all his modules and completed all the training by November. During that time Connor also completed his first aid, CPR and epi pen training and other updates that were required.
Connors first official day as a teachers aide was on Monday 30th January, where he was warmly welcomed in by the Gralee School family. Connor is working one day a week in the blue room as a School Learning Support Officer (teachers aid or SLSO) his role is to support the children in the class, assist with playground and lunch duty and bus pick up at the end of the day. There is still a lot for Connor to learn and a big step from being a student to a SLSO, but with the support of Kurrajong Employment Preparation and Gralee School, Connor will flourish in his new employment.
