Skills and enthusiasm flourish through employment support
Carlie has been part of Employment Preparation in Griffith for three years. During this time, Carlie has gone through and graduated the School Leavers Employment Support (SLES) program. Whilst in the SLES program, Carlie completed all of her employment modules, gained her First Aid certificate and gained certificates for Makeup and Beauty, Food Safety and Computer Literacy.
Carlie came to Kurrajong with experience in the work force already, working within the local school system in the library and the canteen. She was looking to gain skills to move into other areas of employment and expressed a desire to work in a career that helps support people.
Carlie was always helping other participants, whether it was helping them with the SLES content or helping someone take their dishes to the kitchen. As a team at Employment Preparation, we knew that Carlie’s skills and enthusiasm would be beneficial and in March 2023, she was offered a position within the Employment Preparation team as an Office Assistant. Her tasks include helping the team with transporting participants, helping with admin tasks within Employment Preparation and greeting visitors when they arrive in the building.
Carlie currently works three days a week and as a team, we are very proud of what Carlie has achieved and look forward to watching her grow as an employee of Kurrajong.
