Celebrating the Sporting Achievements of Savannah and Leland Swift
Kurrajong clients Savannah and Leland Swift have had an incredible year, marked by outstanding sporting achievements and exciting travels. Over the past few months, they have proudly represented their school, region, and state in both swimming and athletics/cross country competitions.
Team Effort with Kurrajong Support
Savannah and Leland, together with their family, have worked diligently with their Kurrajong Support Coordinator to manage their therapy and social supports. This collaboration has been instrumental in allowing them to attend sports training and participate in various activities in their daily lives.
Leland’s Achievements and Interests
Leland, who has a keen interest in Pokémon and dinosaurs, is often found surrounded by his collection of Pokémon toys and cards. His dedication to swimming has paid off, as he has earned medals and ribbons in the 50m freestyle Multi Class, advancing to the state carnival. In addition, Leland competed at the state level in the 2km Cross Country Multi Class, where he secured a commendable 10th place in his group. Looking ahead, Leland aims to qualify for state-level athletics and is excited about continuing with swimming as he transitions to high school next year. He dreams of visiting Queensland and expresses gratitude to his family, friends, and The Rock Central School for their unwavering support and encouragement.
Savannah’s Remarkable Success
Savannah, a Year 9 student with a passion for animals and sports, has had a very busy start to the year. Her impressive list of achievements includes:
- Age Champion Multi Class at school level in swimming, cross country, and athletics
- Age Champion Multi Class at Zone Level in swimming, cross country, and athletics
- Age Champion Multi Class at Riverina Level in swimming and cross country
- State Level Representation in swimming, where she won a silver medal in the 50m butterfly Multi Class and a bronze in the 50m breaststroke Multi Class
- All Schools Awards: 3rd place in the 50m butterfly Multi Class and 7th place in the 50m breaststroke Multi Class
- National Representation in Queensland, where she placed 6th in the 50m butterfly Multi Class and was invited to support another state’s team for a relay event
Recently, Savannah received the exciting news of her acceptance into the Indigenous Netball Squad in Wagga and will soon be attending clinics. Her ultimate goal is to compete in the Commonwealth Games. Savannah acknowledges that her successes would not have been possible without the support of her family, friends, and the staff at The Rock Central School.
